Wake (Dream Catcher #1) by Lisa McMann

Synopsis
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting weary. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control. Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche she is a participant.

My Thoughts
This book was mesmerizing. It was written in diary form which is always a wonderful read for me. The vividness of Janie's dreams really suck you in. This is a super fast read and I was able to read the book in just a few hours. The characters are are slow to warm to but after awhile I began to really care about these characters. Janie is stand offish and independent and thinks that she does not need anyone but she soon realizes that her gift/curse is not something she keep hidden from people who really care for her. Once she learns she can help not just watch she begins to feel like she in in control of her life.

I really loved this book and I gave it a 5 out of 5. This is the first in a trilogy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It is a teen book.
